Friends of St. Mary's
Church
The
Friends of St. Mary the Virgin Church, Maulden, Bedfordshire is a
Charitable Trust (Registered with the Charity Commission: No. 296924)
whose constitution was adopted on 17 April, 1985. It was
established to assist the Parochial Church Council in maintaining the
fabric of the church.
The
Parish
Church
is part of the history and architectural heritage of Maulden and as such
belongs to all of us, whatever our beliefs. In addition, it provides an
almost irreplaceable service for most of the population of the village.
Some value it for weekly worship,
others for special occasions and all for baptisms,
marriages and burials.
We are
indebted to our forebears for preserving and maintaining the Church for
our use. It is now our turn to ensure this part of our heritage is
preserved for future generations.
The
prime objective of the Trust is to raise money to help the Parochial
Church Council with the upkeep and maintenance of the Church building (the
day-to-day running costs of the Church are met by the regular giving of
the worshipping community).
The
Trust funds are generated largely through three mechanisms:
-
Donations,
‘Gift aided' whenever possible
-
Standing order
subscriptions, again 'Gift aided' wherever possible
-
Annual contributions
to a 'Share Club'
Trust income accrues in a Capital Account, whose
funds are left untouched; it is the interest earned on this Account which
is available for Church maintenance.
Please
contact us for further
information about the trust and its work or to join our Share Club.
